From Within....By Jolene
Hoard: To collect and store, often secretly, large amounts of things such as food or money.
I recently viewed an episode of Hoarders. It encompassed two individuals whose families had interceded and called for help for the persons who were refusing to let go of possessions and their hoarding had escalated into what one may call madness. Things were piled up floor to ceiling with scarcely room for standing let alone for sitting or laying down; yet the owners were still seeking more stuff. They were reluctant to part with anything.
They were not willing for someone else take charge nor to share their stuff with Goodwill or some other charity or thrift store or needy persons. It was their stuff. I had to check myself and look through stuff that I had acquired and was just holding on to. Was I willing to let some things go? I have spent nearly three weeks going through closets, drawers, cabinets, the storage room, etc. and reluctantly had to admit that I was holding on to things that I had not used in years and others could put to good use. I parted with things that I loved, things that I enjoyed, things that God had blessed me with but that I could not carry
to the grave.
Then I saw , one day on the evening news, where president Obama was asking that those who made a million dollars or more to pay taxes at a rate comparable to the middle class and poor folk. The money hoarders cried foul. No way were they willing to give up what would amount to a drop in the bucket of their blessings no matter how they have acquired their monies.
It is our money, was the refrain. They did not want to part with any of it. They can’t or won’t spend it all and they won’t share it. It must make them feel lordly to have more money than they need. Money is their power. It makes them control freaks. They will get all they can, can all they get and then sit on the can; no matter what Jesus said they should do.
Rich folk are hoarders of money. Hoarders. They will never have enough wealth to satisfy their sickness. hoarding things, hoarding money; refusing to let it go, I think it is all the same. Sheer madness.
Please pray for strength and wisdom for our President. He needs our support. Register and go out and vote.
